Debbie J. Wakefield

BURLINGTON, ME - BURLINGTON - Debbie J. Wakefield, 61, died unexpectedly January 30, 2021 at home. She was born June 2, 1959 in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Charlene M. and Huey T. Pender.

Debbie graduated from Penquis Valley High School, class of 1977. Following graduation Debbie started her journey in production, as she went to work as a longtime employee of Dexter Shoe Co. until their closure. She then went on to marry her love, Lawrence M. Wakefield of Burlington. She would soon take her position, as builder, for JSI Store Fixtures, of Milo, where she remained until her death. She will be remembered by fellow employees as a friendly, dedicated, devoted, and hard working woman. Debbie was a true asset, working every chance she could, and worked many hours of overtime. She was dedicated to the success of her employer.

Debbie will be remembered as a selfless woman. A true giver. If filled her soul to give to others. She was a lover of music, and loved to play the guitar and sing in the band with her husband, and special friend, Scott Shorey. Debbie loved to read, and spent her spare time in her favorite chair, reading and doing variety puzzles. She had a newfound love of watching TV with her youngest grandsons, and her son-in-law, Tony. Debbie found true joy in watching these boy grow, and it filled her heart with joy to spoil them. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. Debbie had a true love for hosting family gatherings, and a gift for catering. She was all about togetherness. She will forever be remember for hosting her annual bash for her family and friends, where she could play music and sing with the band for her guests. Debbie had a beautiful singing voice that could be enjoyed by all who had the opportunity to hear it. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Debbie is survived by her beloved children, Aleesha Needham and Jeff, Kristi Thibodeau and Tony, and Tony Merrill and Jillian; two stepsons, Coleman Wakefield and Dawn, and Paul Wakefield and Amanda; a sister, Donna Hall of Kansas; four brothers, Tom Pender and Patricia of Lincoln, David Pender and Laura of Virginia, Gary Pender and Kim of California, and Randy Pender and Samantha of Burlington; 12 grandchildren, Candace, Micah, Rebecca, Ryan, Gavin, Tripp, Kole, Gage, Kloey, Hannah, Brady and Levi; one great-granddaughter, Abigail DeJesus; several nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Nicholas Pender. She will be sorely missed by special friend, Scott Shorey; and her favorite, special cousin, Cindy Roy of Vermont. Debbie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lawrence M. Wakefield; her parents, aunts and uncles; and a nephew, Lukas Pender.
