|MILO - Robert E. Hussey, Sr., 92, passed away peacefully September 27, 2020, at his daughter, Heather’s home in Corinna. He was born December 27, 1927, in Milo, the son of Bertram and Cora (Weymouth) Hussey. Bob’s life revolved around his family and his hard work was exceptional. His humor and life lessons will never be forgotten, especially his whistle or thumbs up.|
He started working at a young age at Kroemer’s Farm in Milo, harvesting potatoes. He went on to work for the American Thread Co., Bangor and Aroostook Railroad in Derby, and he also owned his own logging trucks. He later retired in 1987 from Great Northern Paper Co. in Millinocket after almost 3 decades of service. He worked for Cianchette when Bangor International Airport was built.
Bob’s love for the ocean was where he enjoyed an annual tradition every 4th of July in Bar Harbor. He started tenting with his family at Lily Bay State Park and then onto Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor. In later years, he made the trip to Bar Harbor with his 5th wheel camper. He enjoyed the pancake breakfast, parade, and fireworks. He appreciated the time with family and loved watching his grandchildren grow up. Bob enjoyed many years on Schoodic Lake and hunting and fishing at Camp 29. He was an incredible woodworker and really enjoyed spending his time woodworking.
Bob lost Helen, the love of his life on December 10, 2019. They were married on June 15, 1948 and enjoyed 71 years of marriage together. The youngest in his family, he was additionally predeceased by his parents; brothers, Irving, Clyde, Otis, Elwood, George, Arnold, and John; sisters, Addie and Irma; and a special niece, Patty.
He is survived by six children and their families; son, Robert Hussey Jr. and his wife, Melanie, and their children, Christopher Hussey and Melissa Isherwood and her husband, Darren, their 12 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild; son, Randy Hussey and his wife, Brenda, and their children, Andrew Hussey and his wife, Sarah, Amanda Hussey, Aaron Hussey and his wife, Barbara, Adam Hussey and his wife, Caitlin, and Amarie Mooers and her husband, Dane, and their 8 grandchildren; daughter, Trudy Baird and her husband, William, and their daughter, Elizabeth Rondini and her husband, Jeff; son, Kim Hussey and his wife, Debbie, and their children, Luke Hussey, Nathaniel Hussey, and Jennifer Nadeau and her husband, Ryan, and their 5 grandchildren; daughter, Holly Potter and her children, Adam Potter and his wife, Megan, and Dustin Potter and his wife, Samantha, and her 4 grandchildren; and daughter, Heather Berg and her husband, Robert, and their daughter, Alison Berg Haass and her husband, Chase, and their grandchild, Barrett. He will be missed by many extended family members.
Visiting hours will be held 2-4PM Thursday, October 1, 2020, at the Lary Funeral Home, Milo. A funeral service will be held 1PM Friday October 2, 2020, at the Milo United Baptist Church, with Pastor Phil McGlauflin officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Milo.
