|PITTSFIELD - Theresa M. Dyer, 77, died peacefully on November 3, 2018 at Hospice of Southern Maine. She was born April 4, 1941, in Brownville Junction, the daughter of William and Helen (Lessard) Kirby.|
The youngest of ten siblings, Theresa is survived by her sisters, Carmen Kirby Morris and her husband, Edward, of Huntington Beach, CA, Joan Kirby of Randolph; her children, daughter Chantal Spinazzola, and her husband John Spinazzola of Massachusetts and son, Dirk Dyer, of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine; Brian Mitchell, her companion of 29 years of Pittsfield; grandsons, Brayden Spinazzola and Chase Dyer and granddaughters, Brionni Spinazzola and Sophie Dyer; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Audrey Kirby Ferguson of Lewiston, Claire Kirby Michaud of Guilford, Doris Kirby of Auburn, Helen Kirby McCafferty of Mattawamkeag; and brothers, Maurice Kirby of Houlton, Patrick Kirby of Sanford, and Baby Joseph Kirby of Brownville Junction.
Theresa spent her life always helping others any way possible. She did many acts of kindness, some the family did not fully know until her later years. A graduate of the University of Maine Social Work program, she put her learning to work at Catholic Charities of Maine in Fairfield, Maine, where she was employed for 25 years, first in the Living Skills program and then as a case manager. It is no surprise she did this line of work knowing she had a heart of gold always wanting to help others.
She had the bluest eyes and a contagious laugh. It was easy to make her smile, and she was always happy for other’s accomplishments and happiness in life. Named after Mother Theresa, she was a kind and selfless person. There was no better name for her.
The family would like to thank Woodlands Assisted Living in Farmington, Franklin Memorial in Farmington, Maine Medical in Portland, Hospice of Southern Maine and Lary Funeral Home. Their help and kindness during a difficult time will never be forgotten.
To all those family and friends who gave Theresa and the family unconditional love, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. She will be greatly missed. Our hearts are heavy, but we will remember all that she did to help others and carry that torch in her honor.
