Janice McGahay Russell

SIMSBURY, CT AND LAGRANGE, ME - Janice H. (McGahay) Russell of Simsbury, CT passed away peacefully on June 12, 2015. She was born within minutes of her identical twin and soul mate, Joyce, in Albany, NY on August 25, 1936 to the late William and Helen (Ware) McGahay, Sr. She lived in Maine for 45 years where she and her late husband H. Richard Russell raised their six children. Upon moving to Simsbury, Janice began volunteering at Hartford Hospital and tapped into her artistic gifts as a painter and singer. Over the years, she enjoyed singing with the Saint Catherine of Siena Church choir, Sweet Adeline's, The Farmington Valley Chorale and Farmington Valley Musicae. She also had a love for travel. Faith filled, Janice provided her family with incomparable love, support, patience and education.

Janice will be deeply missed by her son, Christian and wife Rhonda Russell of Lewistion; daughter and husband, Kelley and C. Arthur Boothby of Simsbury, CT; sons, Richard Russell and partner, Denise Jackson of Dover-Foxcroft, Jamie Russell of LaGrange; Brian and Terri Russell of Wimberly, TX; Rodney and Rhonda Russell of South Thomaston; honorary son, George Hartmann of LaGrange; grandchildren and great grandchildren - Jessica and Mark Yusikones and son's Nolan and Kyle of Southboroug, MA; Levon Russell, Neal Russell, Stephanie Russell, Kristen Russell, Richie Russell and fianc�é, Rachel Emery, Bryan Russell, Jack and Leslie Bavelaar and sons, Gavin and Gabriel , Tony and Cheana Bavelaar and their daughters, Alice and Hannah, all of ME, and Reason Russell of TX.

Janice leaves behind her sister, Joyce and husband, Waymouth Dunbar of Hermon; sister-in-law, Sylvia McGahay; half-sisters and half-brother, Nancy McGahay, Deborah Gibson and Michael McGahay; and stepmother, Joan McGahay all of NY. Janice was predeceased by her brother, William McGahay, Jr. and half-sister, Susan McGahay. She is also survived by many dearly loved nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held Friday, June 19, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Ann's Church, 289 Arch Road, Avon, CT. Burial will be private and at the preference of the family in La Grange.
