Frank Emery Tarnoczy

ATKINSON - Frank Emery Tarnoczy, 72, passed away peacefully May 30, 2012, at his home after a long and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis. He was born Nov. 4, 1939, in Bridgeport, Conn., son of Frank and Mary (Palinkas) Tarnoczy. A proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps, Frank was an avid hunter and fell in love with the state of Maine on his many trips here with his friend, Joe Kish. He moved his family to Maine in 1970 and started potato farming. Frank was also a machinist and had retired from Hackett Machine, Brewer. He enjoyed cutting wood and was a member of Atkinson Volunteer Fire Department, serving as chief for many years. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Peggy (Kelley) Tarnoczy; two daughters, Margo Miller and her husband, Craig, of Bangor, and Kim West and her husband, Brad, of Freeport; four sons, Frank Tarnoczy and his girlfriend, Donna, of Atkinson, Joseph Tarnoczy of Madison, Michael Tarnoczy and his girlfriend, Amy, of Newport, and John Tarnoczy of Atkinson; seven grandchildren, all of whom he loved very much, Danielle, Kelly, Sarah, Emery, Kenneth, Clayton and Benjamin; a sister, Evelyn Rusnak of Connecticut; many nieces and nephews. Frank will be remembered by a very special friend and neighbor, Bob Rideout; and his longtime friends, Joe and Martha Kish of Ellsworth. Frank's family thanks Dana Sennet of Gentiva for helping to care for Frank. A graveside service for family and friends will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at Atkinson Corner Cemetery. After the service a reception will be held at Atkinson Town Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater New England Chapter, 74 Gray Road, Falmouth, ME 04105-2062.
