PROSPECT - Marilyn L. Bridges, 76, passed away Thursday evening, Feb. 2, 2012, in the caring arms of her devoted children. Marilyn was born Nov. 12, 1935, in Orneville, daughter of Elden and Arlene Brown. She devoted her entire life to raising children, beginning with her seven brothers and sisters, who she promised to keep together after the death of her parents. A promise she held much pride in keeping. As she triumphed through the hardships of raising her siblings, she started her own family. Along the way she offered to share her home with many people. Friends, family, children and of course, all the furry and feathered friends we all dragged home from time to time. "There's always room for one more," she'd say. Marilyn had a heart of gold and a selfless spirit that went so far beyond kindness. She gave without limits, never expecting anything in return; in turn making a difference in the lives of anyone lucky enough to know her. Marilyn has a large family and enjoyed so much, the hustle and bustle of her busy kitchen. The beloved grandchildren and how they filled her life with hope and her home with love. The memories and joy we have been blessed to share, will remain a treasured gift we all shall carry forever. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Ivan Bruce Bridges; parents, Elden and Arlene Brown; her sweet baby, Charlene Bridges; six beloved, younger brothers, Buster, Danny, Paul, Raymond, Gerald and Roger Brown; sister, Norma Elwell; and a cherished nephew, Mark Brown. Marilyn is survived by her loving children, Regina Perry and husband, Ed, Coleen Damon and husband, Erwin, Clara Bridges and husband, Danny Gray, Rick Bridges and wife, Tammy, Elaine Morey and husband, Kevin, James "Bubby" Bridges, and Brandy Bridges and fiance, Devon Rogers. She is also survived by a sister, Marion Hood; Marion's daughter, Lorraine Tripp; one brother, Alden Brown; 15 cherished grandchildren, James, Gary, Heather, Edward, Josh, Cody, Cass, Kenneth, Michael, Courtney, Carlie, Johnathan, Katie, Shayley and baby Miranda; and eight great-grandchildren, Christian, Eddie, Steven, Sami, Auren, Alyssa, Izaiah and baby Cooper. She will also be greatly missed by her five dogs. Family and friends will gather for visitation 3 p.m. until the time of service 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. A gathering to celebrate Marilyn's life will be after the service at Prospect Community Club, all are welcome.
