Merna Louise Mitchell Dunham

MILO - Merna Louise Mitchell Dunham, 83, beloved wife of William Herbert Dunham, died peacefully in her sleep Dec. 28, 2011, at Mayo Regional Hospital. Merna was born Sept. 28, 1928, in Milo, daughter of the late Chellis K. and Leona (Hoxie) Mitchell. Merna graduated from Milo High School in 1947. She worked at Merrill Bank for many years and retired from Fleet Bank. Merna was involved in many community activities, including a lifetime membership with Pleasant River Grange, Milo, and a member of Valley View Grange, Guilford. She and her friend, Athalie Burke enjoyed their membership in the Miosac Club. She enjoyed serving meals at Meals for Me at Milo Town Hall and participating in HeartWise. Her greatest pleasure came from her music ministry at Park Street United Methodist Church, where she served as choir director until her death, as treasurer of United Methodist Women, and served as Sunday school superintendent and teacher. In addition to Herby, her loving husband of 64 years, she is survived by her sister, Gloria and husband, George Hoskins, of Sarasota, Fla.; three children, Melanie and husband, Bob Hussey, Gary and wife, Debbie Dunham, and Kathie and husband, Roland Larrabee Jr.; seven grandchildren, Steven, Christopher, Beth, Melissa, Justin, Kevin and Alex; 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Avis M. Stanchfield. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at Park Street United Methodist Church. There will be no visiting hours, however the family will share memories and receive friends at a time of fellowship and refreshments at the church after the service.
