MILO - David Michael Cyr Sr., 64, died unexpectedly May 5, 2011, at his Milo home. He was born Oct. 3, 1946, in Hartford, Conn., son of the late Claude and Therese (Labbe) Cyr. David grew up in Windsor, Conn., and graduated from Windsor High School in 1966. He moved to Etna in 1969, where he built a home for his family. He was an avid hunter and was always in pursuit of the "big swamp buck." Often when you looked for him, you would find him riding the backcountry roads in the evenings and telling those hunting stories. He loved playing backgammon and horseshoes, as well as penny poker with the family. Christmas was always his favorite holiday and he always made it special. David enjoyed riding motorcycles and snowmobiling. He was an experienced woodsman and spent long hours working in the woods. David was a loving father, who always enjoyed attending and following sports events of his children while they were growing up. You would often hear him brag about how proud he was of them. He is survived by his wife, Tenia Cyr of Milo; the mother of their children, Barbara Crossman of Bangor; his children, Theresa and husband, Raymond Crossman, of Hampden, David Cyr Jr. of Brownville Junction, Jason Cyr and his wife, Jessica, of Bangor, Betty Ann Cyr of Florida; a special grandson, Jake Duffin Cyr; his two sisters, Susan and her husband, David Hart, of Bangor and Sandra and her husband, Steven Boudreau, of Vienna; three brothers, Llewellyn Cyr and his wife, Pam, of Carmel, Gary Cyr and his wife, Terry, of Newport and Steven Cyr and his friend, Heidi, of Carmel; many nieces and nephews; their beloved four Chihuahuas, Coco, Molly, Shadow and Baby Girl; and a cat, Sci Fi. David will be forever missed and fondly remembered by his family and many friends as being a very caring and giving person. He always made sure he told his family he loved them. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Highland Cemetery, Carmel. Charitable donations in David's memory may be sent to Theresa Crossman, 510 Main Road North, Hampden, ME 04444.
