Beth Gilman Dexter

SEBEC AND DOVER-FOXCROFT - After 92 years, Beth Dexter was called home, April 6, 2011, after a long and active life. Beth was born Oct. 8, 1918, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Ralph and Gladys Gilman. She graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1938 and was married in 1953 to Richard Dexter. She was employed at a local laundry, then as a cashier at First National and IGA stores. Her last job of 27 years was at Hibbard Nursing Home as a laundry supervisor, retiring at the young age of 82. She loved gardening, designing jewelry, shopping and weekly trips to Connie Earley's beauty shop. She was very fortunate to have a lifelong friend, Dot Gray. Until the day she passed, they would reminisce for hours. Her friend, Maxine Robinson, kept in touch daily. Survived by two daughters, Joeene Boone and her husband, Bert, and Anita Chadwick and her husband, Fred, of Dover-Foxcroft; three grandchildren, Tom Boone, Tim Boone and Laurie Smith and her husband, Brian, all of Dover-Foxcroft; four great-grandchildren, Ashley Robinson and her husband, Alex, Morgan Smith, TJ Boone and Dustin Boone; four great-great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Boone, Norianna Boone, Natalie Robinson and Sam Robinson; a sister, Marlene Brawn of Bangor; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Earl Gilman. A celebration of Beth's life will be held at a later date. At her request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mount Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401.
