Phillip Allen Barden

MILO - Phillip Allen Barden, 84, died Sept. 25, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born May 26, 1926, the son of William Barden and Audrey Barden Brockway of Milo. Phillip proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked for the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad for many years. He loved his camp on the Sebec River, where he and his wife and family spent much time. He was an avid "river rat" and belonged to Sebec River Association. He and his wife loved to travel and spent many weeks in Florida and Los Vegas. He is survived by his stepdaughters, Virginia Foss and her husband, Lawrence, and Barbara Gonzales and her husband, Tony, all of Milo; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Sheri and Peter Conley and son, Dillon, Lorinda Canney and son, Christopher, Becky and Clifford Smith and sons, Thomas and Shane, Chuck and Robyn Foss, Bonnie and Kevin Herbest and daughters, Kayla, Emily and Abby, Ronnie and Lori Towne and daughter, Allie, and Sean Towne; a close cousin, Helen Fowler of Milo; a nephew, Michael Barden and his wife, Nancy; and a niece, Loretta Mason and her husband, Ronnie. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Virginia (Russell) Barden, in 2008; his parents; a brother, Norman Barden; and a grandson, Tony Gonzales. A graveside memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, Milo, with Pastor Stephen Dean officiating. Friends and family are invited to share fellowship and stories at Pleasant Park Community Building after the service. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home.
