Catherine M. Carson

BANGOR - Catherine M. "Kay" Carson, wife of the late William T. Carson, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010, in Bangor. She was born Oct. 31, 1917, in Brownville Junction, daughter of the late Allen L. and Margaret (Lyons) Miller. Catherine graduated from Brownville Junction High School in 1935 and trained to be a registered nurse at Maine Medical Center, Portland, graduating in 1940. Catherine enjoyed working many years as a private duty nurse in Bangor and later worked as a registered nurse at Eastern Maine Medical Center, where she retired from in 1979. She was a longtime member of St. John's Episcopal Church, where she served on the Altar Guild. Catherine was devoted to her family and friends and will be sadly missed but always remembered for her love and kindness. Catherine is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie Sprague and her husband, Jonathan, and Cindy Coyne and her husband, Tom, all of Bangor; two grandchildren, Kathleen Garner and her husband, Luke, of Harleysville, Pa., and Benjamin Sprague of Watertown, Mass.; a great-granddaughter, Katherine "Kate" Garner of Harleysville, Pa.; a brother, Cecil Miller of Milo; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, with the Rev. Marguerite A. H. Steadman, rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will be after at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
