PLAINVILLE, CONN. - Dolores "Bunny" Estelle Colter, 81, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 13, 2010. She is now reunited with the love of her life, John Colter, who passed away in 1996 after celebrating 48 years of marriage together. Born Nov. 23, 1928, in Milo, she was the daughter of the late Elgin Leroy and Estelle (Decker) McSorley. Bunny was born and raised in a small town in Maine. She met and married John, in 1947 while he was working as a telegrapher. A job opportunity to work for New Departure came up for John in Connecticut, so they moved to Plainville and started a family. Bunny spent her time raising and caring for her family. Sunday gatherings for meals were a must for the family where all were able to enjoy her unique and creative meals. Bunny was an active member of Congregational Church of Plainville (Conn.) and worked in their thrift shop for years. Nothing excited her more than a good shopping trip where she could pick up more shoes or anything that had sequins in it. She was a deeply caring and vibrant personality and nearly sparkled as much as the clothes that she liked to wear. Most important to her though was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the lights of her life. Bunny will be dearly missed by all those who knew her. She was a loving mother to Randy Colter and his wife, Dena, of Southington, Conn., and Jacqueline Posadas and her husband, Jimmy, of Plainville, Conn.; her grandchildren, David Posadas and his wife, Cindy, Shannon Hughes and her husband, Tom, John Colter, Adam Colter and his fiancee, Angela, Brian Colter and his wife, Amy, and Nicole Polchies and her husband, David; her great-grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, Hannah, Zach, Alicia, Caedon, McKenna, Micah, Caylie and Seth; her siblings, Roy McSorley and his wife, Pat, of Maine, Barry McSorley of Maine, Donna Paul of Maine and Gail Burlock of Maine; her daughter-in-law, Pat Colter; many nieces and nephews, including her special niece, Sandy Navarro; her life long friend, Theresa St. Pierre; and her special neighbor of 40 years, Della Kozakiewicz. She was predeceased by her sons, Michael and Richard Colter; her brother, Charlie McSorley; and her brothers-in-law, Jack Paul and Al Burlock Family and friends are invited to gather 10-11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville, Conn., where a celebration of Bunny's life will begin 11 a.m. Burial will be after at West Cemetery, Plainville, Conn. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain, care of the dialysis unit, 100 Grand St., New Britain, CT 06052.
