BROWNVILLE - Richard "Dick" E. Whitten, 67, passed away Dec. 2, 2009, at a Bangor health care facility after a short illness. He was born March 4, 1942, in Milo, the son of Richard L. and Ellen M. (McGrath) Whitten. Dick had lived with his mother until her passing and remained in their home until his recent illness. He had worked for National Wood Products, Maine Forest Service and Dexter Shoe Co. He was a lifetime member of North American Hunting Club. Dick is survived by three brothers, Norman of Brownville, Harold, and Willis and his wife, Linda, all of Milo; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Donald. A graveside memorial service will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, in the family lot at Brownville Village Cemetery with Pastor David Mumford officiating. After the service, friends and family are invited to share fellowship and stories at Norman's home, 252 Davis St., Brownville. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home.
