BROWNVILLE - Edward H. Smith, 71, died Nov. 8, 2009, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born March 27, 1938, in Brownville, the son of Herman E. and Thelma (Stevens) Smith. Edward attended school in Brownville. He worked for Canadian-Pacific Railroad and the town of Brownville for more than 30 years. Edward loved riding his bicycle, "Big Iron," to as far away as Millinocket. He was once featured in the Boston Globe on his "Big Iron." Edward was well known as "Angel Ed" in the town of Brownville and could be seen riding his bicycle up until a few years ago. Edward was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Violet Smith Moxie. He is survived by a special adopted "angel" sister, Julie Stoddard and her family of Addison; several cousins and many friends. He will be missed by his beloved cat, Tippey.
