Walter Rendzia

BROWNVILLE JCT. - Walter Rendzia, 84, husband of the late Ruth (Hughes) Rendzia, died Aug. 1, 2009, at an Orono nursing home. He was born Sept. 4, 1924, in Clifton, N.J., the son of John and Helen Rendzia. He was one of seven children. He attended schools in Passaic, N.J. He served his country with the U.S. Navy on many ships, primarily on the USS Marblehead. Walter began working for CP Railroad in 1948 and retired in 1985 as an engineer of freight and passenger trains. He was a member of U.T.U. Walter was an avid fisherman, golfer, hunter and storyteller. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by three sons, William Stineford of Milo, Walter Rendzia and wife, Sheryl, of Florida and Keith Rendzia and wife, Kathy, of Brownville; two daughters, Ruby Grindle and husband, Paul, of Arizona and Violet Grant and husband, Arthur, of Brownville; a sister, Sophie Saydak of Wallington, N.J.; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. A graveside funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Aug. 17 in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, Milo.
