Kenneth E. Pullen

MILO AND CLEARWATER, FL - Kenneth E. Pullen passed away March 25, 2008, in College Station, Texas. He was born Feb. 21, 1913, in Milo, the son of Harry M. and Clara S. Pullen. A graduate of Milo High School, Class of 1930, he studied mechanical engineering at the University of Maine, Orono. He owned H. M. Pullen Clothing Co., Main Street, Milo, until his retirement in 1977. He also worked for the U.S. Post Service from 1935 to 1943. He was a member of the 9th Chemical Company of the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945, serving 28 months in England, France and Germany. He was a past president of Milo Board of Trade, past president and secretary of Milo Lions Club, and a member of Clearwater Beach (Fla.) Lions Club. He was Scoutmaster and chairman of the board of directors for Milo Boy Scouts. Ken was a past master of Piscataquis Lodge No. 44, AF & AM, Milo, and served the Masonic Grand Lodge of Maine as an appointive grand officer. A Mason for 61 years, he was also a member of St. Johns Commandery of Knights Templar of Bangor, Rabboni RAC, Milo, and Scottish Rite Bodies of Bangor. He was a past patron of Aldworth Chapter No. 39, Order of the Eastern Star and a past grand patron of Grand Chapter of Maine, Order of Eastern Star. He was award-ed the Grand Cross of Color for extended faithful service and support by International Order of Rainbow for Girls. Mr. Pullen was predeceased by his wife, Inez (Scanlin) Pullen; and a daughter, Suzanne P. Decker. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David J. and Dean A. Pullen of College Station, Texas; a sister, Dorothy P. Gallagher of Spring-field, Mass., five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great-granddaughters, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral arrangements will be announced in June by Lary Funeral Home, Milo. Burial will be in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in his name be made to Eastern Star Training Awards for Religious Leadership, ESTARL, Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

MILO and CLEARWATER, Fla. - Visiting hours for Kenneth E. Pullen, who died March 25, 2008, in College Station, Texas, will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 20, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. Burial will take place 10 a.m. Saturday, June 21, in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, Milo. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at United Baptist Church, Milo, with the Rev. Rudy Homchuck officiating.
