Homer E. Nichols

WILLIAMSBURG TOWNSHIP - Homer E. Nichols went to rest with his Lord Nov. 11, 2007, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. Homer was born April 9, 1912, in Brewer, the son of Roscoe and Mabel (Perkins) Nichols. Homer lived most of his life in Brownville, graduating from Brownville High School in 1930. Homer began his work life delivering ice for ice boxes and then went on to haul cord wood. He went to work for Canadian Pacific Railroad in 1936, retiring in 1976 after 40 years of service. He married Dorothy Small in 1937. Dorothy predeceased him in 1980. Homer was a member of Pleasant River Masonic Lodge No. 163 AF & AM and the Duster Antique Auto Club. For the last four years, he made his home with his nephew, Peter Small and his wife, Valerie, who survive him along with their children, Mary Cameron and her husband, Chris, and their children, Allison and Joshua, Lindsay Small and companion, Cameron Wellman, Taylor Small and Logan Whitten. Homer is also survived by sisters-in-law, Geraldine Hoxie of East Millinocket and Shirley Varney of Brownville Junction; a brother-in-law, Howard Small of Florida; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Wilbur Nichols. He will be sadly missed by his special Labrador friend, Brooke. A graveside funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Michele St. Cyr officiating. After the service, friends and family are invited to Park Street United Methodist Church to share fellowship and stories. Memorial gifts may be made to Park Street United Methodist Church, P.O.
