SEBEC - Jeanne Elva Hill Harmon, 83, wife of Ernest Harmon, died peacefully April 5, 2007, surrounded by her family at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. She was born Sept. 30, 1923, in Whiting, the daughter of Fred and Marjorie (Gray) Hill. She graduated from Washington Academy and then attended New York University. On May 7, 1947, she married Ernest Harmon. Jeanne enjoyed reading, gardening and sewing. During the past several years, she had been sewing dozens of quilts for Project Linus, an organization that provided love and security to children through gifts of handmade blankets. She was predeceased by two sisters, Gertrude Stuer and Edith Leighton. Jeanne is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Ernest of Sebec; a son, George and his wife, Terry, of Sebec; a daughter, Hallie and her husband, Charles Downing, of Corinna; three grandsons, Troy Downing of Framingham, Mass., Gregory and Robert Harmon, both of Sebec; two sisters, Laura Dennison and Marjorie Hoar, both of Whiting; many nieces and nephews. Jeanne will be sadly missed by her family. At Jeanne's request, there will be no services. A private burial will take place at Hill Family Cemetery, at Gardner's Lake, Whiting. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.
