Raymond C. Roberts

BROWNVILLE JCT. - Raymond "Ding" C. Roberts, 76, husband of Nora M. (Gifford) Roberts, died Jan. 23, 2007, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born April 18, 1930, in Onawa, the son of Coburn George and Eula A. (Perry) Roberts. A graduate of Monson Academy, Class of 1947, he had served with the U.S. Army in Korea. He had been employed by the Canadian-Pacific Railroad as a conductor. He was a member of the North American Hunting Club and Bernard Jones American Legion Post No. 92. Ding was an avid hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman and lover of nature. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nora of Brownville Junction; two sons, Randy Scott and his life companion, Cindy, and Michael Forrest, all of Brownville Junction; three daughters, Rhonda Backus and her life companion, Darrell, of Brownville Junction, Patricia King and her husband, Michael, of Elliotsville and Kelly Bickford and her husband, William, of Brownville Junction; a brother, Robert Roberts and his wife, Beverly, of Monson; a sister, Patricia McSorley and her husband, LeRoy, of Elliotsville; a special brother-in-law, Lewis Gifford of Eastham, Mass.; four grandchildren, Tera Guthrie and her husband, Joshua, Cortney Lyford, Michael Lee King II and Hanna Backus; several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, William. Friends are invited to call 2-3 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at Lary Funeral Home, Milo, where a celebration of his life will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, with Pastor David Mumford officiating. After the service, all are invited to share refreshments and fellowship at the Brownville Junction High School Alumni Building. Spring burial will be at Pinetree Cemetery, Brownville Junction.
