Mildred Ethel Strout

ORONO - Mildred Ethel Strout, 93, wife of the late Donald J. Strout, died July 27, 2006, at the Maine Veterans' Home, Bangor. She was born Oct. 26, 1912, in Williamsburg, the daughter of Edward and Thirza Grace (Maxfield) Foulkes. Mildred was a member of the Brownville Community Church and the Church of Universal Fellowship in Orono, where she belonged to Alliance and had served as chairman of the music committee. She sang with the church choirs and with the University of Maine Oratorio. She was also a member of the Brownville Historical Society. She and her husband, Don, enjoyed traveling, touring throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and South America. In their early years, while Don was in the U.S. Air Force, they lived in Connecticut, Texas, New Hampshire, New York, Oklahoma, Arizona and England. Music was Mildred's love and she and Don especially enjoyed attending concerts. She is survived by a daughter, Dawn Carol Strout of Orono; a nephew, Larry Strout of Milo; a niece, Sandra Ceynar of Texas. She was predeceased by two sisters, Doris F. Browne and Margaret Foulkes; a brother, George Foulkes; three nephews, Donald, Harvey and Robert Browne; and a niece, Shirley Browne. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, at the Brownville Community Church, with the Rev. Darren Morgan officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at Brownville Village Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Brownville Community Church, P.O. Box 706, Brownville, ME 04414.
