Forrest Robinson Stone

BUCKSPORT - Forrest Robinson Stone died April 28, 2006, at the age of 84, at the Maine Veterans' Home in Bangor, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving wife and their family. Jim was born July 22, 1921, in Littleton, the son of Albion and Margaret (Robinson) Stone. Jim attended Orland and Bucksport schools where he received his GED. He joined the CCC Camp and later joined the Army Air Corps and was a veteran of World War II. He worked at the Bucksport Paper Mill as a stock prep operator and retired in 1985. Jim was a proud past master of the Rising Sun Lodge No. 71 of Orland, and a member of the Anah Temple Shrine, Bangor. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed being with his family at Alamoosook Lake and Patten Pond. Surviving is his loving wife of 48 years, Nella (Gerow) Stone; and his loving stepchildren, Laurice and wife, Jeanne Mercer, of Silver Springs, Md., Beverly and husband, Ronald Kerstetter, of Millerstown, Pa., Frederick and wife, Janet Mercer, of Charlotte, N.C., and Pamela and husband, Dick Ames, of Bucksport; 12 loving grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his brother-in-law, Herbert and wife, Maureen Gerow and family of Orland; brother-in-law, Philip and wife, Ina Jan Gerow and family of Milo; and his daughter, Phyllis Daniels of Bucksport. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Prentice Stone. Visitation for family and friends will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 1, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where Masonic Services will be held 6:30 p.m. by the offices of the Rising Sun Lodge officiating. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Bucksport.
