Ramona E. Elwell

WINN - Ramona E. Elwell, 87, wife of Maurice Elwell, died Dec. 15, 2005, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born Jan. 10, 1918, in Gardiner, the daughter of George and Azelia (Phillips) Cottrell. Mona loved making things from wood. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and cooking for her family. She worked at the Dry Cleaners in Lincoln for years and spent her last working years as a people greeter at Wal-Mart. In addition to her husband, Maurice; she is survived by a son, David Elwell and daughter-in-law, Katherine, of Winn; a daughter, Lynn Riel and son-in-law, Gregory, of Louden, N.H.; five grandchildren, Jan Riel of Louden, N.H., Jennifer Burritt of Henniker, N.H., Sherry Bartlett of Deer Isle, Danny Mann of Milo, and William Mann of Brooklin; three great-grandchildren, Edwin Mann of Deer Isle, Bobbie Jo Bartlett and Miranda Mann, both of North Carolina; several great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard Cottrell of Calais; two sisters, Lovina Cochran and Eunice Wheaton, both of Princeton. She also leaves a special friend to her at the last of her life, Brenda Hamm. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Chapel, Talmadge, with the Rev. Thomas Smith and the Rev. Edward Costain officiating. Spring interment will be in East Winn Cemetery.
