Wendell H. Stickney

LIGONIER, PA - Wendell H. Stickney, 85, formerly of Brownville, died Thursday afternoon Dec. 8, 205, in UPMC Presbyterian-University Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born Saturday, Nov. 27, 1920, in Brownville, a son of the late Clint and Helen Williams Stickney. Prior to his retirement he had been employed as a mechanical engineer for several corporations and as a wood shop instructor at several schools. He was a noted inventor and presently has six existing patents. He attended the Covenant Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elizabeth M. Johnson Stickney; a daughter, Mrs. Jamie (April) Cintron of Ligonier; a son, Bristol L. Stickney of Tesuque, N.M.; four grandchildren, two brothers, Donald Stickney of Brownville and Ted Stickney of Berwick. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a son, Kimball Stickney and four and a half-brothers and sisters. A celebration of his life was held 11 a.m. Dec. 17, at the Covenant Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert D. Cummings officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the University of Maine, Mechanical Engineering Dept., Orono, ME 04473. Mr. Stickney's arrangements have been entrusted to the J. Paul McCracken Funeral Chapel, Inc., Ligonier, Pa.
