Jon Hamlin, Master of the Pleasant River Masonic Lodge in Brownville presented a $700 check to volunteers of The Thrift Shop in Brownville at the Brownville Community Church on March 4th. The gift represents a combined donation from the Pleasant River Lodge and the Piscataquis Lodge in Milo as part of their charitable giving in the Three Rivers community.

The funds were given to support the operating costs of the Thrift Shop, located in the basement of the Brownville Community Church. The Thrift Shop was housed for many years in the Brownville Junction United Methodist Church until moving this past summer.

“This gift will help cover the operating costs so we can continue to serve our community and county, especially during hard economic times. We are so thankful to our area Masons who share this value and care so much about people in need,” said Carla Greaney, one of the volunteers.

The Thrift Shop is open on Wednesday from 9 am to noon and welcomes donations of clothing (adult, children, and babies), wardrobe accessories, puzzles, and games.

Donations can be left in the shed to the left of the church building.

If you have any questions or are in need of assistance due to an emergency or would like to set up private shopping for a needy child, please contact Carla Greaney at 965-8051 or Sue Coburn at 279-9252.
